but these failed without giving me anything decent to go on (install failed, product already installed popup). I had previously tried the direct install/uninstall of just the native client from the downloads located here: I am going to investigate correcting the installation issue to see if I can install, then uninstall the product first. (program and shared program locations are same, and greyed out in the installer, causes validation failure).

Last evening I was able to try using the full installers for SQL Server Express 2008 R2 and the ISO image for the Standard/Enterprise version to try and do a re-install, then uninstall. I am in the process of restoring the copy of the server to my test system, and will try your instructions if nothing else works.

If the "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client (圆4)" install did not fail because it thinks "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client" is installed , I would not be concerned with removing "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 While telling me that I am missing the pre-requisite. I am hoping correctly installing "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client (圆4)" will allow that administrator to install their program, however my attempts are failing because the server simultaneously thinks that the program is not installed, The other administrator tried all kinds of other steps to get the program to install, but could not get past this pre-requisite. The installation for that product failedīecause this component was unavailable. The reason I am trying to remove the program is that the "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client (圆4)" is a required pre-requisite for another Microsoft product another administrator is installing. Yes, I agree that deleting registry entries could become messy. Rename all the SQL Server folders in the computer. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete all the keys referencing SQL Server. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and delete all the sub-keys referencing SQL Server. -HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer.-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server.Uninstall the existing SQL Server and all the components from the add remove program.
Note: Removing necessary registry entries might cause SQL Server instance to crash so backup registry before doing changes. Please DONT use this method if you are new to SQL Server take help of experiencedĭBA to locate proper registry keys and remove them if you are not confident at all it would be better calling Microsoft Support. IF NOTHING WORKS OUT THEN If you have multiple instances and you have messed up SQL Server installation please contact Microsoft Support personal to get better guidance on removal of SQL Server. But you should have to do on your own risk. Ok I would suggest some measures (which I dont like to) to remove SQL Server completely. I could help you better if you give me complete info What product he is trying to install ? Why is he just installing native client First show me what error your administrator got when he was trying to install 2008 R2 native client.
